1. Introduction

CamEscape ("we", "our", "the application") is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data when you use our CamEscape mobile application.

By using CamEscape, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the application.

2. Data We Collect

2.1. No Personal Data Collected

CamEscape does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable data. We do not require account creation, email addresses, names, or any other personal information.

2.2. Locally Stored Data

The application stores the following data only on your device:

• Surveillance camera data: Geographic coordinates and metadata of cameras downloaded from OpenStreetMap
• Application preferences: Theme (light/dark), language, clustering settings, downloaded countries
• Synchronization data: Last synchronization date per country, number of cameras downloaded

All this data is stored in a local database (DuckDB) on your device and never leaves your phone.

2.3. Location Data

If you authorize access to your location, CamEscape uses it only to:

• Display your position on the map
• Calculate routes from your current location

Your location is never transmitted to our servers or to third parties. It is used strictly locally on your device.

3. Third-Party Services and External Connections

3.1. OpenStreetMap and Overpass API

To download surveillance camera data, CamEscape connects to the OpenStreetMap Overpass API (overpass.kumi.systems). During these requests, your IP address may be visible to the Overpass server, but no personal data is transmitted.

The downloaded data is public data available under the ODbL (Open Database License) and contains no personal information.

3.2. OSRM (Open Source Routing Machine)

To calculate alternative routes, CamEscape may connect to the public OSRM service (router.project-osrm.org). Only start and destination coordinates are transmitted, without any personal information.

3.3. Google AdMob (Advertisements)

CamEscape integrates Google AdMob to display advertisements. Ads are enabled by default in the free version of the application.

When ads are displayed, Google AdMob may collect certain data in accordance with its own privacy policy:

• Advertising device identifier (IDFA on iOS, AAID on Android)
• Device type, operating system
• Approximate location data (if authorized)

You can disable advertisements permanently by making an in-app purchase. Once purchased, ads will no longer be displayed and no advertising data will be collected.

4. Use of Data

Locally stored data is used only to:

• Display surveillance cameras on the map
• Calculate routes that avoid monitored areas
• Remember your usage preferences
• Optimize application performance

5. Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or rent any personal data. CamEscape operates offline and does not transmit any data to our servers (we do not operate any servers).

The only data transmissions are:

• Requests to the Overpass API to download public camera data
• Requests to OSRM to calculate routes (coordinates only)
• Requests to Google AdMob to display advertisements (unless disabled via in-app purchase)

6. Data Security

All data is stored locally on your device in an encrypted database (DuckDB). We do not have access to this data as it never leaves your device.

Data is protected by the standard security mechanisms of your operating system (Android/iOS).

7. Your Rights (GDPR)

In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the following rights:

• Right of access: You can access all locally stored data via the application interface
• Right to erasure: You can delete all data by uninstalling the application or removing downloaded countries
• Right to rectification: You can modify your preferences at any time in the settings
• Right to data portability: Data is stored in a local database that you can export
• Right to object: You can object to the processing of your personal data by third-party services (such as Google AdMob for advertising purposes). You can disable location access at any time in the settings

To exercise these rights, you may:

• Change settings directly within the application
• Disable location access in the application settings to stop location data processing
• Purchase the ad-free version through an in-app purchase to stop advertising data collection by Google AdMob
• Uninstall the application to delete all data
• Contact us through the support channels (see section 10)

8. Children’s Data

CamEscape does not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 13 (or the minimum required age in your jurisdiction). If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
